The First Home Buyer Choice
Do you know about the 1st home Buyer Choice? As you may know, there are exemptions from stamp duty up to $650k and concessions on stamp duty for homes up to $800k. Those will remain in place and are really fabulous benefits for any first home buyer who is purchasing a property in those price points.
Until now anyone buying a home over $800k got no stamp duty benefits at all (and often didn’t qualify for any other schemes due to price thresholds or income cap regulations) which meant they needed to save up the stamp duty costs on top of their deposit, mortgage insurance, legal fees, adjustments, registration of mortgage and all the other costs that go into buying a home in that price range.
